Harry Potter: 11 year old boy whose parents died when he was a baby. He has a lightning shaped scar on his forehead. He is a wizard and goes to a school called Hogwarts. He is smart,shy and wears glasses.

Ron Weasley: 11 year old boy who becomes good friends with Harry. He also goes to Hogwarts and is a wizard. He is smart, but not as shy as Harry and he isn’t as brave as him. He has red hair and does not wear glasses.

Hermoine Granger: 11 year old girl who becomes best friends with Harry and Ron. She also goes to Hogwarts and is a wizard. She is very smart, but because her parents are Muggles she tries harder to prove she can be a wizard.

Hagrid: he is a half-giant man who helps Harry a lot. He takes care of the grounds at Hogwarts. Hagrid is the one who rescued Harry from his home after Voldemort killed his parents.

Dumbledore: he is the headmaster of Hogwarts and very intelligent. Harry always trusts and respects him. He is a really good teacher to Harry. He has a long beard and looks a lot like a typical wizard.

Voldemort: he is an evil wizard who killed Harry’s parents when Harry was just a baby, but he was not able to kill Harry. Voldemort is Harry’s main enemy.

Sirius Black: he is a mysterious prisoner being held in Azkaban that may have played a role in the death of Harry Potter’s parents. Harry believes he may be coming after him to kill him, but later other details are discovered about him.

The Setting

Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry: this is the school of wizards that Harry goes away to live and study in. This is where most of the book takes place. It is a huge castle looking school with many rooms and hallways and hundreds of students.

I chose to read and review Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban because I am a fan of the Harry Potter movies. After seeing most of the movies, I thought it would be a good idea to read the books. I really liked this book because it is a lot different then the movie. There are stuff in the book that are not in the movie. I would give this book two thumbs up because it entertaining to read. There is a lot going on that keeps you wanting to keep reading each chapter.
